In this slidecast, Ofer Bengal from Garantia Data presents an overview of the company’s fully-automated cloud service for hosting Memcached and Redis.
The Garantia Data Memcached Cloud was built from the ground up over a true Memcached cluster architecture and with a highly reliable infrastructure. We distribute your dataset across multiple shards in multiple nodes of our Memcached cluster and constantly monitor your shards to ensure optimal performance. When needed, we add more shards and nodes to your dataset so it can continuously and limitlessly scale. We have also added to our Memcached cluster replication, data persistence, backup and auto-failover capabilities that guarantee your dataset is always up and running.
In this slidecast, Bill Bain and David Brinker from ScaleOut Software present an overview of the company’s in-memory data grid solutions.
ScaleOut StateServer runs as a distributed, software service on every Web or application server in your server farm to store data objects in memory and make them globally accessible across the farm within its distributed IMDG. These data objects contain serialized program data, such as Web session data, business logic objects, and data retrieved from a database server. Stored objects can be accessed from any client connected to the distributed data grid, and the grid enables simultaneous access by different clients to data objects stored on different grid servers.”
Business Process Management is moving to the Cloud. In this video, Mac McConnell from Bonitasoft presents an overview of the company’s open solutions for business process management.
Bonita Open Source solution provides a powerful technology to handle business processes through a user friendly and easy-to-use interface. Bonita can easily be integrated into your business applications.”
In this video, Jelle Frank from Interxion presents on the need for hybrid clouds in the enterprise and how the company’s cloud test labs let you try before you build.
Interxion’s Cloud Test Labs are targeted at companies that want to trial a private cloud before migrating it to a fully-functioning production environment,” said Jelle Frank van der Zwet, Interxion’s cloud marketing manager. “Our partnership with Eucalyptus for this Cloud Test Lab takes that one step further, giving systems integrators and enterprises the option to not only test the service in a private cloud environment, but also scale into a public cloud.”
Any effective backup must include getting data off site to protect against natural or man-made disasters,” said Ashar Baig, Senior Analyst at Taneja Group. “Hybrid cloud backups, which back up data to the LAN and then replicate it over WAN links to the cloud, are an increasingly attractive way to move business-critical backups offsite. Arkeia’s ‘seeding and feeding’ features overcome the mid-market’s key challenge of expensive WAN bandwidth. Arkeia’s hybrid cloud approach is a great way for organizations to get their data off site without the complexity of using tapes on a daily basis by overcoming bandwidth limitations.”
Arkeia Network Backup v10 enables “hybrid cloud” backups by overcoming the limitations of last-mile bandwidth—allowing overnight delivery of physical media to substitute for WAN bandwidth as needed. Arkeia introduces hybrid cloud “seeding and feeding” in which administrators can employ any combination of physical media and internet transport to replicate backup sets on a LAN to or from remote cloud storage. Arkeia makes it practical to replace tapes for off-site storage by allowing large backup sets like full backups to be moved on physical media and small backup sets like incremental backups to be sent over the wire.
In this slidecast, Konstantin Polukhin and Peter Vaihansky from Firstline Software present: Bringing the Cloud to Earth.
First Line Software has taken on the challenge of connecting cloud-based applications to on-premise data by developing a solution that places a functional stack between the cloud application and the on-premise database. The solution, developed following customer demand, combines the company’s proprietary “cloud-to-earth adaptor” that implements reliable messaging across an unstable network with the comprehensive mapping between the cloud-based business logic and the on premise data store.”
In this video, Jason Richelson, CEO and Founder of ShopKeep presents an overview of the company’s cloud-based Point of Sales system that runs from iPad devices.
ShopKeep is an iPad POS (Point of Sale) system that gives merchants the power to run and analyze their businesses in an elegant, easy-to-use and inexpensive cloud-based interface. By combining a iPad POS system with our detailed BackOffice reporting, you have the ability to generate powerful analysis of inventory, sales and customer relationship management with a service that never becomes outdated.”
In this slidecast, Paul Barth from NewVantage Partners presents: Time-to-Answer – A Business-Driven Scorecard for Big Data. According to Barth, the key to business success is data preparation (cleanse, normalize, and integrate the data), not the total amount of data that you have.
NewVantage helps clients mitigate the risk of critical business initiatives — information strategy, data management/governance, customer/digital strategy, and business process alignment — through a focus on up-front planning and execution: current state assessment, future state vision, roadmap, business case, requirements, capabilities, business architecture, and by providing a critical link between business and technology strategy and capabilities. Succcessful business transformation requires committed business sponsorship and strong technology partnership, and benefit from the independent, expert perspectives of business and technology executives who have “sat in the chair”.
In this slidecast, Karen Tegan Padir from EnterpriseDB presents: Top Benefits of Cloud Databases.
PostgreSQL is the #1 enterprise-class open source database with a feature set comparable to the major proprietary RDBMS vendors and a customer list that spans every industry. EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus solutions let you confidently develop and deploy PostgreSQL-backed applications that scale all the way from embedded solutions to massive OLTP and data warehouse systems that serve thousands of users.
In this podcast, Jeff Denworth from DDN provides details on the company’s recent announcement that their Web Object Scaler (WOS) will support Open Compute server and storage platforms in cooperation with the Open Compute Project.
Historically, there has not been an industry movement around standardizing and driving the adoption of mass-market hyperscale hardware technology,” said Jean-Luc Chatelain, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Technology, DDN. “With the new OCP storage hardware specification, DDN is able to focus its cloud storage efforts and investments on the software intelligence that drives today’s business and social connection. The Open Compute movement allows us to harness the power of crowd-sourced hardware design and a highly optimized supply chain to drive the best value for our customers.”
