Today Mellanox announced that Sakura, Japan’s leading internet service provider, has selected the company’s end-to-end InfiniBand products for both compute and storage, instead of 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel.
With the ever-increasing amounts of rich data in the cloud, service providers must have a scalable interconnect solution to provide the necessary throughput and communication among servers and storage,” said Marc Sultzbaugh, vice president of worldwide sales at Mellanox Technologies. “Leveraging the performance, efficiency and scalability of Mellanox’s interconnect solutions, Sakura Internet is able to provide its customers with a reliable, scalable and flexible cloud services architecture.”
The InfiniBand solution enabled Sakura to reduced their capital and operational costs and bring an economy of scale to Japanese IT.
