In this video starting at the 44 minute mark, Microsoft leverages Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand to achieve its goals for Windows 8 to provide Cloud and virtualized infrastructures with key features of scale-out, high availability, higher performance and reduced price and cost.
The demonstration shows how Mellanox solves the I/O bottleneck for SQL and file-based applications in the virtualized and cloud infrastructures. The demonstration also includes a performance snapshot showing Mellanox RDMA technology providing leading I/O throughput of more than 2GB of bandwidth with CPU overhead of only 1%! Mellanox’s I/O technology enables these applications to increase efficiency, maintain continuous availability and reduce capital and operating expenses.
